Nearly 10 million votes counted under proportional system, CPN UML on top

Kathmandu: The vote counting for the proportional representation (PR) for House of Representatives and the State Assembly continues. According to the Election Commission, more than 10 million votes have been counted so far.

According to the calculation, main opposition CPN UML has garnered 26,97,664 votes. Similarly, Nepali Congress has received 25,55,161 votes.

Another major political force, CPN (Maoist Center), has received 11,41,273 votes. The newly emerged Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has garnered 10,97,789 votes.

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) got 5,70,304 votes, madhes-terai based Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) got 393,599 votes.

According to the Commission, Janamat Party has received 354,385 votes so far. The CPN UML, Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), RSP, JSP and Janamat Party have so far crossed the 3 percent threshold. These parties will be eligible for calculation under Proportitional System.

Likewise, CPN (Unified Socialist) looks heading towards getting 3 percent threshold. It has received so far 2,82,189 votes.

In order to get recognition of the national party in the House of Representatives, at least one seat must be won directly and three percent of the votes must be obtained proportionally.
