Butwal, June 13: Nepal Airlines has started its maiden flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Bhairahawa Airport. Regular international flights of Nepal Airlines have started at Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) from Tuesday.
Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati welcomed the plane at GBIA. In his welcome remarks, he applauded the efforts of NAC and vowed to support airlines to continue at GBIA airport.
General Manager of Gautam Buddha International Airport Hansraj Pandey said that the narrow body aircraft of Nepal Airlines with a capacity of 158 seats brought 90 passengers on its first flight to Bhairahawa. According to him, 32 passengers landed in Bhairahawa while others returned to Kathmandu.
Nepal Airlines Malaysia-Bhairawa-Kathmandu flight is a ‘turn-around’. The flight will be operational on every Tuesday. The plane does not take passengers back and forth, passengers cannot be retained from Bhairahawa, crew members cannot be changed and fuel cannot be filled. The flight from Malaysia to Bhairahawa is scheduled for 4 hours 45 minutes, then the passengers will disembark at Bhairahawa and the corporation’s plane will fly to Kathmandu.
The government’s high level officials and NAC officials were there at the airport to receive NAC plane.
The corporation said that now the fare for Malaysia-Bhairahawa will be Rs. 31,000 and Malaysia-Kathmandu is Rs. 56,000.
