Nepal can partner with neighbours in ayurvedic development: Minister Basnet

Kathmandu, Nov 26: Minister for Health and Population, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, has said Nepal could partner with India and China for the development in ayurvedic sector.

During the ‘International Ayurved Conference and Wellness Exhibition, 2030’ organized by Ayurved Medical Development and Research Foundation here Sunday, Minister Basnet viewed Nepal is a rich country for ayurvedic treatment process, but the State has failed to manage and develop it well.

According to him, in view of the potential of ayurved, Nepal would ensure achievement if the partnership was built with India and China.

Not only in Nepal, but also the neigbouring countries India and China have done tremendous progress on ayurved.

“Nepal is a veritable storehouse of medicinal herbs,” he prided, lamenting that we have not been able to utilize, process and manage these effectively. The production and export of medicinal herbs could contribute to national economy, he argued.

On the occasion, Director General of Ayurved and Alternative Medicine Department, Dr Basudev Upadhyay, stressed on taking forward ayurvedic treatment based on evidence and standard.

Time has come to expand ayurved with production of human resources and researches. In the conference that runs till Monday the participants are from India, China, Portugal, Bangaldesh, Sri Lanka, among others.
