Nepal concedes 48-run defeat to UAE

KATHMANDU: Nepal has conceded a 48-run defeat to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in its second match of the triangular one-day cricket series under the ICC Cricket World Cup League-2 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday.

In the chase of the 169-run target posted by the UAE, Nepal was restricted to 120 runs in 35.1 overs at the loss of all wickets. For Nepal, Rohit Paudel hit highest 46 runs off 60 balls with four boundaries. Similarly, Gyanendra Malla scored 28 runs and Kushal Bhurtel 11. UAE’s Basil Hameed took four wickets and Junaid Siddique three.

Elected to bat first after winning the toss, the UAE made 168 runs in 46.3 overs losing all wickets. For the UAE, CP Rizwan and Rohan Mustafa hit 40 runs each.

For Nepal, Sompal Kami claimed four wickets and Karan KC three. Similarly, Sandeep Lamichhane, Dipendra Singh Airee and Sagar Dhakal made one each. In its previous match played on Wednesday, Nepal beat Papua New Guinea by two wickets.

It is facing the UAE in its third match coming Monday.
