Kathmandu, Sept 20: A total of 3,681 disaster incidents have been recorded across the country since mid-April, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
These events affected 6,590 households, leaving 243 people dead, 869 injured, and 24 missing during the six-month period.
Fires were the most frequent disaster, with 1,295 incidents killing 23 people, injuring 177, and affecting 1,411 households.
Floods caused 29 deaths, 23 missing cases, 14 injuries, and affected 1,861 families in 263 reported incidents. Landslides numbered 463, leaving 24 dead and 41 injured.
Heavy rainfall triggered 340 incidents, resulting in six deaths, 14 injuries, and damage to 811 households.
Lightning strikes caused 38 deaths, 212 injuries, and damage to 351 homes in 290 incidents.
Snake bites were reported in 304 cases, killing 77 people and injuring 233.
Forest fires led to two injuries and affected 27 families in 85 incidents, while 284 storms killed eight people, injured 44, and affected 541 households.
Animal attacks claimed 20 lives, injured 88 people, and affected 366 families in 217 incidents.
The NDRRMA said public awareness campaigns and strengthened early warning systems are underway to reduce disaster losses in the future. #nepal #NDRRMA
