Kathmandu, May 5: Nepal national cricket team put up a competitive batting performance against Oman in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 at Kirtipur.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Nepal produced a solid total of 256 runs, largely driven by a brilliant knock from Aasif Sheikh, who scored 94 runs off 97 balls, including 7 fours and 5 sixes.
He was well supported by Arjun Kumal, who contributed 48 runs, helping Nepal build a strong foundation. Aarif Sheikh also played an aggressive innings of 43 runs off just 24 balls, adding momentum in the later stages.
Middle-order contributions came from Dipendra Singh Airee (33) and Gulsan Jha (17), though Nepal lost wickets at regular intervals, preventing a bigger total.

Captain Rohit Paudel had a modest outing, scoring 9 runs, while wicketkeeper Binod Bhandari was dismissed for a duck.
Among Oman’s bowlers, Nadeem Khan and Shakeel Ahmed were effective in picking up key wickets and slowing Nepal’s progress.
Oman will now aim to chase the target, while Nepal will look to its bowlers to defend the total and secure a crucial win in the tournament.
In the current league games, Oman defeated Nepal in the first match but Nepal managed to defeat UAE. #Nepal
