Nepal thrashes UAE by 160 runs in ACC U19 Asia Cup



            Kathmandu, Sept 10: Nepal thrashed United Arab Emirates by 160 runs in the finals of group match under the ACC U-19 Asia Cup underway in Sri Lanka.

            Invited into bat after losing the toss, Nepal posted a 286-run target against UAE in allotted 50 overs losing nine wickets. Chasing the target, UAE was restricted to only 125 runs in 34.4 overs at the loss of all wickets.

            For Nepal, Captain Rohit Kumar Poudel hit highest 67 runs off 84 balls with one six and four boundaries. Likewise, Sandip Jora contributed 48 runs (53 balls) including six fours, Rashid Khan 44 from 44 balls with one six and five boundaries, Aarif Sheikh 45 and Kushal Malla 22. Likewise, Kamal Singh Airee made 41 off 26 balls with two sixes and five fours.

            For UAE, Sanchit Sharma and Aakash Tahir took three wickets each. Likewise, Kartik Palanippan claimed two and Rishabh Mukherjee one. Similarly, Arbindra Rudrabel hit 28 runs for UAE, Alsan Sharaful 21 and Syed Haider 15.

            For Nepal, Sagar Dhakal claimed three wickets while Pawan Sharaf, Surya Tamang and Radhid Khan two each. Similarly, Airee took one. Earlier in the first match, Nepal categorised into Group ‘B’ lost to Sri Lanka by five wickets and to Bangladesh by six wickets in the second match.
