KATHMANDU: Nepal has won the one-day cricket series against Zimbabwe ‘A’ team that concluded in the capital today. Nepal won the series 2-1.
In the third and final match under series played at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Nepal defeated Zimbabwe ‘A’ by 6 wickets. Zimbabwe A had won the first match of the three-match ODI series by 3 wickets. In the second match, hosts Nepal won by 9 wickets.
In today’s match, Nepal won the toss and elected to field first. Put into bat first, Zimbabwe lost all their wickets to give Nepal a victory target of 214 runs.
In reply, Nepal completed the target at the loss of 4 wickets in 30.01 overs, riding on 84 runs scored by Kushal Bhurtel. Similarly, Dipendra Singh Airy remained not out with 60 runs while Asif Sheikh and Binod Bhandari contributed 29 and 28 runs respectively.
For Zimbabwe, Brandon Mabhuta took three wickets and Brad Evans took one.
Earlier, Zimbabwe lost all their wickets in 32.1 overs and scored 213 runs. Tadiwanashe Marumani top-scored for Zimbabwe with 50 runs. Kudjai Maunje scored 39, Roy Kia 36, and captain Tony Munyoga 24 runs.
Nepal’s Kishor Mahato took five wickets while Sompal Kami took two wickets and Karan KC and Dipendra Singh Airy took one wicket each.
Prior to this, Nepal and Zimbabwe A had played a three-match T20 series, which ended in a 1-1 draw. One game was cancelled due to rain.
