
Kathmandu, Mar 5: The Nepal national women’s cricket team has been bid farewell ahead of their departure for the four-nation T20I series in Uganda, starting March 8. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) organized a farewell program on Wednesday at its office in Mulpani.
The tournament will feature teams from Nepal, Uganda, Hong Kong, and Namibia. Notably, Nepal will be facing Namibia for the first time in women’s cricket.
Speaking at the farewell event, team captain Indu Barma expressed confidence in the squad’s preparation. “The team is in great shape. We have worked extensively on our fielding and fitness, and we now have a fitness trainer with us,” she said. “We aim to play good cricket and return with a strong performance.”
Head coach Manoj Katuwal also shared his optimism, stating that the team has addressed its weaknesses and is focused on winning the series. “We have emphasized fielding and fitness, even bringing in a dedicated trainer. This time, we are determined to return as champions,” he said. “Our squad is a mix of experienced and U-19 players, which will be an advantage.”
CAN Secretary Paras Khadka encouraged the team, emphasizing the importance of gaining international experience. “Winning and losing are part of the game, but we have full confidence in you. We believe you will play great cricket and make Nepal proud,” he said.
