Nepali Congress to forge election alliance as per local situation

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has made a policy decision to forge alliance with the other parties in the ruling coalition according to the local conditions and needs in the upcoming local elections.

The meeting of the NC Central Working Committee held today has decided to do so to build a strong foundation for the victory of the Congress at the local level.

Krishna Prasad Poudel, chief secretary of the party’s central office, said that work would be carried out in accordance with the provisions and procedures mentioned in the party’s statute to select local level candidates.

The proposal presented by General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa at the inaugural meeting chaired by the Prime Minister and party president Sher Bahadur Deuba at the party’s central office Sanepa was unanimously passed.

The meeting has formed ‘Local Level Election Central Mobilization Committee’ under the convenorship of Deputy President Purna Bahadur Khadka and ‘Local Level Election Central Publicity Committee’ under the convenership of Central Member and Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat.
