Nepali Congress candidate Raj Kumar Nakarmi has been elected Mayor of Kirtipur Municipality, securing 9,043 votes. His nearest rival from CPN UML Keshratna Bajracharya got 5,507 votes, according to chief returning officer in Kathmandu, Thakur Bhattarai.
Similarly, Janata Samajbadi Party’s Shuva Laxmi Shakya has been elected Deputy Mayor, securing 8,665 votes while her nearest rival from CPN UML Bindu Maharjan got 7,206 votes.
Likewise, the five party ruling alliance has secured victory in Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality. Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Centre) had forged the electoral alliance.
NC’s Prem Prasad Pun became Chairperson, garnering 3,123 votes, and Maoist Centre’s Resham Pun became Vice Chairperson by collecting 2,812 votes, according to assistant election officer, Purna Bahadur Khatri.
Prem Prasad’s nearest rival Thamsar Pun of CPN UML got 2,548 votes and Pragati Karki from the same party was nearest rival to Khatri. He collected 2,618 votes.
Similarly, among seven wards in the rural municipality, NC and UML won in three wards each while Maoist Centre won in remaining two wards.
Likewise, the candidates from the ruling alliance have been elected in Ghyanglekh Rural Municipality. The Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Centre) had forged the electoral alliance.
NC candidate Jagat Bahadur Bholan became Chairperson, collecting 2,102 votes and Maoist Centre candidate Shankar Man Ghalan became Vice Chairperson with 2,183 votes.
Bholan’s nearest rival from CPN UML Chatarman Lole got 1,353 votes and Vice Chairperson candidate from the same party Pramila Waiba got 1,528 votes.
Similarly, CPN Maoist Centre secured victory in four wards and UML in one ward in the rural municipality.
