Kathmandu, Aug 22: Nepali national cricket team visited Pashupatinath temple before going to Pakistan for Asia Cup cricket. The national cricket team is leaving for Pakistan tomorrow. Today, the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) has organized a farewell program for the team.

Although the Asia Cup will kick start on August 30, the Nepali team is going to go earlier to play some practice matches there. In the opening match of the Asia Cup, Nepal and Pakistan, who are in Group A, will face each other.

CAN has already announced the 17-member squad for the Asia Cup under the captaincy of Rohit Paudel. Out of which spinner Sandeep Lamichhane is not going to Pakistan tomorrow. He did not even reach Pashupatinath with the team today. He has not participated in closed training camp as well. After the delay in the decision on Sandeep’s case in the court, it has become uncertain whether he will play or not in the Asia Cup.

CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand said that Sandeep was not participating in closed camp as he was unwell. Chand has expressed confidence that he will play the Asia Cup even if he does not go with the team tomorrow.
