Nepali workers traveling via Indian Airports no longer need NOC, except Russia

Kathmandu, Nov 11: Nepali citizens holding labor permits who are traveling to foreign employment destinations via Indian airports will no longer be required to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC). However, NOC remains mandatory for those heading to Russia, the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi announced on Monday.

The embassy also specified that NOC is compulsory for those traveling to Russia under student scholarship or business visas. This requirement was reinforced after reports that Nepali youths were being recruited into the Russian military and sent to fight in the war against Ukraine. Official statistics show that over 60 Nepali youths have lost their lives in the Russia-Ukraine conflict so far.

This new regulation reflects the tightening of visa and employment policies, particularly for those heading to conflict zones like Russia. The decision is expected to streamline the process for Nepali workers traveling through India, while maintaining stricter controls for high-risk destinations.

According to the embassy notice, Nepali nationals who have received labor approval and are traveling through Indian airports will not need an NOC. The embassy clarified that Nepali workers who have labor permits issued by the Department of Foreign Employment are not required to obtain NOC from the embassy.

Additionally, Nepali citizens holding visas for the United States, the United Kingdom, and Schengen countries will also be exempt from the NOC requirement.

However, Nepali nationals planning to travel to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, Libya, and Lebanon without a labor permit will still need to obtain an NOC. #NOC #nepal #India #airports
