Kathmandu, Dec 16: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel asserted that the courage and determination of the Nepalis to set the record was unmatched globally.
The Minister remarked so while inaugurating the ‘Non-Stop Marathon TV Talk Show’ here today. The event seeks to set a record by young journalist Gaurav Poudel in the Guinness World Records by continuously conducting a non-stop talk show for at least 100 hours.
The record setting attempt will be broadcasted by the Prime Television. In the first stint of the 100-hour talk show, Minister Kharel gave journalist Poudel a maiden interview at the Skywalk Tower at Kamaladi, Kathmandu.
Extending his best wishes to Poudel, Minister Kharel said, “Nepalis people have inherent talent. We are incredibly resilient and have the capacity to endure. Nepalis people have courage and determination to accomplish globally renowned acclaimed feats.”
He cited Tenzing Norgay’s unprecedented record in scaling the highest mountain in the world-Mt Everest (Sagarmatha). It may be noted that Nepal’s Norgay and New Zealand’s Edmund Hillary became the first climbers to reach the summit of Mt Everest on May 29, 1953.
On the occasion, journalist Rishi Dhamala and activist Durga Prasain extended their best wishes to journalist Poudel in his record setting spree.
The talk show seeks to showcase thoughts, caliber and creative potentials of the Nepali youths in the international stage and thereby enhancing Nepal’s glory in the world, said journalist Poudel who is all set to set a new record and break the old one.
Earlier in April 2013, then journalist Rabi Lamichhane (now Rastriya Swatantra Party’s Chairperson) held the Guinness World Record for the longest television talk show by broadcasting for more than 62 hours.#nepal #rss
