Nepal’s dismal batting performance, Set a target of 158 runs



Kathmandu, April 27: Nepal has managed to set a paltry 158 runs target against Qatar. Batting first, Nepal scored 157 runs losing all wickets in 40.3 overs.

Earlier, Nepal lost the toss in the last match of Group A under ACC Premier Cricket tournament. Qatar captain Mohammed Rizlan won the toss and decided to field first in the toss held at Tribhuvan University cricket ground in Kirtipur.

Nepali team captain Rohit Paudel (27) and Sandeep Lamichhane (42 not out) were the top contributer for Nepal. Likewise, other batsman Kushal Bhurtel (2), Bhim Sharki (6), Kushal Malla (3), Dipendra Singh Airee (12), Sompal Kami (11), Lalit Rajbanshi (1 ), Gulsan Jha (7), Aarif Sheikh (11) and Aasif Sheikh (19) were out without significant contribution. Most of the batsmen were out on bad shot selection.

On Qatar side, Owais Ahmed took three wicket and Amir Farooq took four wickets. Likewise, Gayan Munaweera took 2 wickets and Ikramullah Khan took one wicket.

Nepal is on the second place in the points table with five points after winning two of the three matches played and sharing points in one.

Earlier, Nepal defeated Malaysia by six wickets in the first match and defeated Oman by 84 runs in the second match. Similarly, Nepal shared points with Saudi Arabia due to rain stopped play. If Nepal wins today’s match, Nepal will become the winner of Group A. Qatar is winless in all three matches and is already out of the tournament.
