KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index lost 44.94 points on a highly volatile day on Thursday and closed at 2,554.13. The index opened at 2,622.70 and briefly made an intraday high at 2,622.77. The index lost in intraday action today, going as low as 2,547.84. With this, total volatility of 74.93 points was observed in the trading session today.
According to NEPSE, 15,856,171 shares traded hands via 83,407 transactions. The trading of 206 scrips brought the total market turnover to a little over Rs. 6.09 billion.
While the float index lost 3.24 points and closed at 176.04, the Sensitive index is at 461.81 after losing 8.53 points.
Nepal Infrastructure Bank has the highest individual scrip turnover of a little over Rs. 90.35 crores. Its shares also traded the most.
Chandragiri Hills has technically hit the 10% positive circuit today. Meanwhile, Sunrise First Mutual Fund has lost the most 6.84%, followed by Shree Investment Finance Company which lost 5.53%.
All sectors lost today. The finance sector is the highest loser with a 2.17% sector loss.
