Kathmandu, Jan 21: The NGO Federation has launched a vigilance rally to protest against inequalities. The campaign, themed “Draw the Red Line against Inequalities,” is taking place across all provinces.
The NGO Federation has launched the rally when the 55th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) is underway in Davos, Switzerland, since January 20. The event, themed “Collaboration in the Intelligent Age,” will conclude on January 24.
The vigilance rally began today in Pokhara, the capital of Gandaki Province and was organized by the NGO Federation’s Gandaki Province, Kaski chapter.
Participants of the rally expressed concern over the rising global inequalities, underlining the need for equitable access to natural resources to address the growing disparity. Similar rally will also take place in Koshi, Bagmati, and Karnali Provinces on Tuesday.
Furthermore, the rally is scheduled for Madhesh Province on Thursday, and Lumbini and Sudurpaschim Provinces on Friday, according to Arjun Bhattarai, Central General Secretary of the NGO Federation.
As Bhattarai pointed out, only 10 percent of the world’s population has access to natural resources and assets, leading to widening inequalities. The rally aims to symbolically amplify the voices of the 90 percent of people who lack access, advocating for their right to natural resources.
