Kathmandu, March 23: Nine women and one child who were trafficked to India on the pretext of engaging in lucrative jobs have been rescued.
The Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau Kathmandu has informed that they were rescued and brought to Nepal after receiving a complaint that they were kept in a flat in New Delhi, India.
According to the police superintendent of the bureau, Krishna Prasad Pangeni, they are being kept in a protected place in Kathmandu and are being given counseling services and necessary investigations are ongoing. He informed that as they are still being interrogated, based on their statement, the person involved in trafficking will be searched for.
Pangeni also said that they were rescued and brought with the help of Indian police in coordination with the Nepali Embassy in India and organizations working in this area.
