KATHMANDU, Dec 31: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), a public entity, has saved around Rs 1.50 billion with the operation of petroleum pipeline from Motihari-Amalekhgunj since last year.

According to the annual financial report of fiscal year 2076/77 released by NOC, Rs 1.47 billion was saved in the supply of petroleum products in 10 months from Bhadra 2076 to Asadh 2077 BS.

The NOC has been saving Rs 147 million monthly after the supply of petroleum products through pipeline.

The Motihari-Amalekhgunj pipeline was brought into operation since September 10, 2019.

Executive Director at NOC, Surendra Poudel, said the NOC started saving large amount of money after the supply of diesel through pipeline.

The profit increased also because of the decrease in price of petroleum products in the international markets in recent years.

Similarly, the automated pricing system implemented by NOC has contributed to the profit. The NOC, which had been running at loss for a long time, is now in profit for some years.
