Nomination for NA member by-election in Lumbini today



Kathmandu, Jan 25: Nomination for National Assembly member by-election is to take place in Lumbini Province on Wednesday. Voting calendar of the election for National Assembly member was set for coming February 8.

The post remained vacant after CPN-UML’s NA member Khimlal Bhattarai of Rupandehi had resigned from the post to become the House of Representatives (HoR) member. The by-election was scheduled to fulfill the vacant position.

Kumar Dasaudi from CPN-UML is set to register his nomination for NA member from Lumbini province while Nepali Congress (NC) has yet to decide on its candidate.

According to the Province Election Office Dang, there are a total of 305 voters, including province assembly members and mayor/chair and deputy mayor/vice-chair of local level.

In the 87-member province assembly, UML had won 29 members, NC (27), Maoist Centre (10), four each from Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Nagarik Unmukti Party, three each from JSP, LSP and Janamat Party, one each from Janamorcha and CPN (Unified Socialist) and two independent members.
