Kathmandu, Dec 6: Faf du Plessis of Biratnagar Kings has hit a record-equalling half-century in the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL).
He reached his fifty in just 19 balls against Sudurpaschim Royals, becoming one of the fastest players to achieve the milestone in the tournament’s history.
With the brilliant performance, Biratnager Kings have won the crucial last league match with six wickets against Sudurpaschim Royals. With the win, Biratnagar stood at second position earning 10 points behind Sudurpaschim of 12.
Earlier, Bhim Sarki of Kathmandu Gorkhas had also scored a half-century in 19 balls against Pokhara Avengers. Similarly, foreign recruit Harmit Singh of Sudurpaschim Royals completed a 19-ball half-century against Kathmandu this season.
The overall record for the fastest half-century in the NPL, however, still belongs to Jimmy Neesham of Janakpur Bolts, who reached the milestone in just 18 balls during the previous season.
Number of Half-Centuries Reaches 33 in the Ongoing NPL
The total number of half-centuries in the ongoing second edition of the NPL has reached 33. Sam Hazzlett of Biratnagar Kings registered the 33rd half-century today against Sudurpaschim Royals. So far, 29 players have contributed to these half-centuries in the tournament.
Ravi Bopara of Chitwan Rhinos leads the tally with three half-centuries. Kushal Bhurtel of Pokhara Avengers and Priyank Panchal of Karnali Yaks have scored two half-centuries each.
Meanwhile, only two players—Mark Watt of Karnali Yaks and Adam Rossington of Pokhara Avengers—have scored centuries in the ongoing competition. #npl #cricket
