NRB reduces gold import quota, fixes 10 kg per day

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), Nepal’s Central Bank, has reduced import quota of gold. The importers can now import only 10 kg of gold daily.

Issuing a press note today, NRB made the arrangement effective from Sunday.

The NRB has issued the directive citing pressure on foreign exchange reserves.

At present, gold is being imported at the rate of 20 kg per day.

In Nepali market, Hallmark gold is being traded at Rs. 101,900 per tola which itself a record high. Likewise, price of worked gold is also trading at Rs. 101,400.
