NTA directs to deactivate 26 unlisted social media platforms



Kathmandu, Sept 4: The Nepal Telecommunication Authority has directed mobile and internet service providers to deactivate 26 unlisted social media platforms in Nepal.

The NTA issued the directive in a circular to all service providers today. The Authority has directed to deactivate various social media platforms in Nepal including Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, YouTube, WhatsApp, Twitter (X), LinkedIn, Snapchat, WeChat.

Along with the NTA’s directive, the government-owned Nepal Telecommunication Company (Nepal Telecom) and private sector mobile service provider Ncell have clarified that the unlisted social media platforms have been shut down.

Meanwhile, the internet providers’ association (IPAN) has also clarified that all the social sites will be blocked by Nepali service providers by tomorrow evening in Nepal that have not been registered into Nepal.
