One dead, 36 injured in Ilam bus accident



Ilam, Nov 19: One person was killed and 37 others were injured when a bus carrying students and teachers on an educational visit in Ilam met with an accident. District Police Office Ilam has informed that 12-year-old Arpan Lama of Dhanushadham Municipality-9 Dharapani, Dhanusha of Nepal has died.

This evening there was a bus accident at Aryal Chowk of Rong Rural Municipality on Mechi Highway. According to Basudev Khatiwada, Chief of District Police Office, Ilam, 20-year-old Ganesh Kumari Moktan of Dhanushadham Municipality-9 Dharapani was critically injured. However, her condition is said to be normal.

According to the police, the condition of 11-year-old Samishka Moktan, 12-year-old Shekhar Moktan, 12-year-old Nirjala Moktan, 36-year-old Anju Lama, 2-year-old Sneharika Lama and 9-year-old Rija Lama, who were injured in the accident, are also in normal condition.

Others who were injured include Kajal Nayak, Nikisa Moktan, Ritu Lama, Sunmaya Lama, Kavita Ghising, Sougat Lama, Barsha Tamang, Siddharth Tamang, Swachha Lopchan, Bibisa Moktan, Rozina Tamang and Kalpana Kumari Lama. Similarly, Shanta Pakhrin, Sandhya Moktan, Tulma Lama, Manavati Lama, Gyanu Lama, Pratishka Lama and Lal Kumari are also injured.

Also, Karan Moktan, Kusum Ghising, Shanta Maya Tamang, Anil Pariyar,  Rachna Ghising, Sanjeev Tamang, Renu Ghising and  Samishka Lama were also injured in the accident.

According to the police, the injured were rescued and sent to various hospitals in Jhapa.
