Over 15,000 enrolled in PM employment program in Jumla

Jumla: A total of 15,251 unemployed people have been registered for the Prime Minister’s Employment Program at eight local levels, including a municipality in Jumla. They have been listed in the Employment Management Information System (EMIS) at eight local levels of Jumla for the current FY 2020-21.

The government had made an arrangement for the people in the age group of 18 to 59 to apply for unemployment registration. According to Hima Rural Municipality Employment Coordinator Dipendra Poudel, the people who have filled the form within the stipulated time have been listed in EMIS by the ward committee, local steering committee and the executive board.

Hansraj Neupane, Employment Coordinator of Kanaksundari Rural Municipality, said that the listed unemployed will be employed for at least 100 days on a priority basis.

“Only those who have not been involved in employment for at least 100 days in a financial year and are not involved in self-employment with at least the prescribed income were asked to fill up the form,” he said.

An amount of Rs. 5.1 million has been allocated to all the eight local levels of the district for the transformation initiative project for youth employment under the Prime Minister’s Employment Program.

According to Guthichaur Rural Municipality Employment Coordinator Prem Shahi, the budget for the Prime Minister’s Employment Program is yet to receive.

This year, the government has allocated more than Rs. 11 billion to create around 500,000 jobs across the country through the Transformation Initiative for Youth Employment Project in collaboration with the World Bank and the Wage for Work Community Project with the support of the Government of Nepal.
