Kathmandu, June 24: Traffic police booked and fined 2,550 vehicles for violating traffic rules across the Kathmandu Valley over the past 24 hours, collecting more than Rs 1.72 million in penalties.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, the violations included 102 incidents of drunk-driving, 142 cases of ride-sharing against the rules, 140 traffic signal violations and 207 incidents of over-speeding.
Likewise, 56 cases were recorded for breaching lane discipline and 108 for honking in prohibited areas.
Similarly, 14 vehicles were penalized for emitting smoke beyond the prescribed limits while 35 vehicles were found operating on the roads without proper inspection of their condition.
Furthermore, 1,746 drivers and riders faced action for various other traffic offences, the Office said.
