PAC has not taken any decisions on dedicated, trunk line tariff dispute

Kathmandu, Aug 28: CPN (UML) parliamentarian Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai shared that the Public Account Committee of the Parliament has not taken any new decisions on the dispute relating to dues of dedicated feeder and trunk line tariff.

During the special session of the House of Representatives today, parliamentarian Bhattarai claimed that there has been no proposal for actions by the Committee against anyone in connection this dispute.

He reminded that a sub-committee coordinated by then parliamentarian Dr Minendra Rijal in 2076 BS had directed the relevant agencies with eight proposals in connection to addressing the longstanding dispute of dedicated feeder and trunk line.

It may be noted that the Nepal Electricity Authority had provided uninterrupted supply of electricity to certain private industries and public offices from 2016 to 2018 through dedicated feeder and trunk lines charging the beneficiaries additional up to 65 per cent premium fee.

Lawmaker Bhattarai voiced that the erstwhile government’s decision to discount on the arrears of such lines amounting to over Rs 21 billion was unlawful.

He demanded an explanation from the leader of major opposition party-CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in the current session of the parliament.

Bhattarai questioned him on what basis of law and authority his erstwhile government had decided to provide Rs 16 billion of discount to the obliged industries on the arrears related to electricity tariffs of dedicated feeder and trunk lines.

He reiterated that Committee of Public Account had not taken any new decisions on this issue. #House
