Pakistan Embassy hands over computer laboratory at Gyanodaya School



Kathmandu, Nov 30: Ambassador of Pakistan, Abrar H. Hashmi, inaugurated and formally handed over a newly established computer laboratory at Gyanodaya Secondary School at Bafal, Kathmandu.

The donation from the people of Pakistan was part of the continued support for education and digital learning in Nepal.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by community leaders, representatives of the local government dignitaries, civic and social figures including former Governor Dr. Deependra Bahadur Chhetri, Chiarperson of the school management committee Mr. Ram Babu Koirala, School Principle Bishnu Ghimire Rimal, principle of neighboring School, Representatives from various local clubs, school teachers, students, and media representatives.

Notably, the first computer lab was donated to the School in 2013 as a teaching aid and has served students continuously for the past 12 years.

The newly established laboratory is equipped with 40+2 brand-new computers, new furniture, and upgraded flooring. It will be utilized to impart ICT education to higher classes. The previous lab, after refurbishment, has been relocated to the primary section to further strengthen early digital learning.

Gyanodaya Secondary School currently serves over 4,700 students and is efficiently managed by the community under the supervision of the local municipality. Owing to its strong reputation and high demand, the school operates in three shifts daily. It consistently delivers quality education, as reflected in a remarkable pass rate of over 90 percent for the recently graduated year-12 class and SEE Examination.

In his remarks, Ambassador Hashmi commended the school’s leadership, teachers, and the community for their active participation, dedication, and effective management, which have produced visible and sustainable educational outcomes.

Addressing the graduating students, he emphasized the importance of staying connected to their rich culture and traditions while embracing modern education and digital transformation. He encouraged them to leverage information and communication technologies and explore emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, e-commerce, innovation, and fintech.

The Students and community leaders expressed their appreciation for the announcement of establishing a ‘Nepal-Pakistan Friendship Society’ at the school. They also warmly welcomed the Embassy of Pakistan’s commitment to support the school’s music and sports societies. These initiatives are expected to further deepen the bonds of friendship between Pakistan Embassy and the school and by extension between the two people and countries. #nepal #pakistan #education
