Kathmandu, Aug 3: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has unanimously approved the names of six people as ambassadors to various countries and missions. Committee Chairman Gyanendra Bahadur Karki informed that the name of the ambassadors recommended by the government was unanimously approved by the hearing committee on Thursday.
Two weeks ago, the government recommended the names of Lok Bahadur Thapa as the resident representative of the United Nations Mission in New York, Ram Prasad Subedi as the resident representative of the United Nations Mission in Geneva, Tej Bahadur Chhetri as the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, Ghanashyam Lamsal as the ambassador of Kuwait, Dhan Bahadur Oli as the ambassador of Thailand and Sudhir Bhattarai as the ambassador of France.
According to Section 19 of the Procedure of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee 2080, the proposed persons had presented their qualifications, experience, interests and their views, action plans and thinking regarding the position. The committee discussed in detail the presentations and complaints received by the committee and the meeting held today approved all the proposed persons in accordance with the sub-rule 5 of rule 26 of the joint meeting of the federal parliament and the joint committee operating regulations 2080, said Chairman Karki.
According to him, five complaints were filed so far. All the government-recommended persons are senior officials (Joint Secretary) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
