Party’s exit from government marked by strides in good governance: Prachanda

Kathmandu, July 24: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said people have well understood that the party made its exit from the government by leaving its mark in the promotion of good governance.

In his address to a memorial assembly organised for Nar Bahadur Karmacharya, the founding member of the Nepal Communist Party here today, the erstwhile Prime Minister argued that their exit from power was untainted.

He said the Maoist Centre-led government was toppled all of a sudden in a non-transparent way when it was actively working for the enhancement of good governance, social justice, and economic prosperity.

“We were actively advancing social security for domestic and overseas workers, addressing issues like usury—a remnant of feudalism—legally,” he stated. “We departed from the government becoming a winner in promoting good governance,” he added.

Also speaking on the occasion, Maoist Centre’s Senior Vice-Chair Narayan Kaji Shrestha claimed that only the Maoist Centre is capable of creating a foundation for socialism through the means of economic prosperity.

Stating that the party has easily accepted its shift from the ruling party to a major opposition instantly, he said it does not matter much for the party either to be in the government or in the opposition.

However, its presence in the government leadership would be significant in meeting the current agenda of the nation, according to the leader who underlined the need to strengthen the achievements and promote national independence and interests, pressing the need to accelerate the efforts of economic prosperity through a socio-economic transformation to create a foundation for socialism. #Nepal
