Kathmandu, Dec 24: The Department of Passports has announced that passports will now be issued within two working days following the receipt of 396,000 new passport booklets, enabling expedited service for applicants with urgent needs.
According to the Department, passport issuance has resumed at full operational capacity. With the improved supply of booklets, passports will be personalized and distributed without delay to applicants who submitted requests through district and area administration offices, as well as Nepali missions abroad.
The Department stated that applicants who applied on or before December 1 will receive their new passports by December 30, while remaining applications will be processed and delivered progressively thereafter.
Clarifying the situation, the Department noted that passport distribution is expected to remain smooth during the interim period, as sufficient booklets are now available. The government had earlier decided to procure a total of 700,000 passport booklets to address the temporary shortfall and ensure uninterrupted service. #nepal #passport
