Past one and half year spent on learning: Deputy Speakers



Kathmandu, Sept 25: The Deputy Speakers from the federal and State parliaments have said their time was spent in learning the implementation of the constitution as per the federal set up.

This past one and half year was spent mostly on learning because the federal system is new for Nepal, they shared during a press conference organized here on Wednesday.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, the lower house of the federal parliament, Shivamaya Tumbahamphe viewed, “The federal parliament is working in coordination and cooperation with the State parliaments and sharing new knowledge. Federalism is a new practice in Nepal. It is opportunity for women to work as Deputy Speakers.”

Similarly, Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly, Sashikala Dahal, reminded that they were also elected from the State, and working in coordination with the State assemblies.

On the occasion, Deputy Speaker of Sudur Paschim State Assembly, Nirmala Joshi, viewed that it was new experience in her life.

Deputy Speaker of Karnali State Assembly, Pushpa Gharti, said State governments were actually implementing the federalism.

Upama Dev, Deputy Speaker from State 2 Assembly, shared that she also conducted the parliament session in absence of the Speaker.
