Birgunj, June 2: Nepal has imported petroleum products worth Rs. 155.94 billion through the Birgunj check point during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year 2024/25. The imports included diesel, petrol, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), aviation turbine fuel (ATF), and kerosene.

Compared to the same period last fiscal year, the overall import value of these five petroleum products declined by Rs. 1.35 billion or 0.86 percent.

Despite this slight decline in import volume, revenue collection from petroleum products has increased significantly, according to Deepak Lamichhane, Chief Customs Administrator of the Birgunj Customs Office. He stated that even though the quantity of petroleum imports decreased, the revenue collection went up.

During the 10-month period, the customs office collected Rs. 64.50 billion in revenue from these five types of petroleum products — an increase of 10.31% compared to the Rs. 58.48 billion collected during the same period last fiscal year.
