Kathmandu, Jan 28: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has designated Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to also take charge the responsibility of Home Ministry.
President Bhandari designated PM Dahal the responsibility of Home Ministry after Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane resigned from the post, the Office of the President said.
Lamichhane had resigned from the ministerial position on January 27 (Friday) in line with the Article 77(2)(a) of the Nepal Constitution. Lamichhane, also the President of Nepal Swatantra Party, was appointed the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister on last December 26.
The Constitutional Bench of Supreme Court on Friday ordered that Rabi Lamichhane didn’t follow the rules on getting Nepali citizenship. The apex court abrogated his MP posts including all the ministerial and political posts.
