Kathmandu, April 7: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has suggested simplifying the payment system to make the health insurance program more effective and service-friendly.
Addressing the program organized today on the occasion of the 8th Health Insurance Day, Prime Minister Dahal emphasized that the system of co-payment implemented by the Health Insurance Board should be made service-friendly.
“Systems and provisions like online membership registration system, ‘real time claim system’, technology-friendly insurance system” are challenging reform plans,” said Prime Minister Dahal, “providing health services in an equitable manner through health insurance is the national goal of ‘good governance, social justice and prosperity’. To fulfill the aspiration, the program must be made meaningful and effective. The government is always committed to this.”
In order to increase the attractiveness of this program, Prime Minister Dahal emphasized the need to fulfill the important tasks that should be taken from the state and service providers, and directed attention to the issues of simplifying the process of taking services by the insured, maintaining the quality of services, and making the service providers more service-friendly.
He emphasized on maintaining good governance and financial discipline and conducting an effective literacy campaign about the health insurance program.
He further said that it is expected that the quantity and quality of the health insurance program will be developed through important policy reforms such as making health insurance cards mandatory for the services and recommendations provided by the federal government, state government and local government, and making all health protection programs a one-door system.
Stating that the government is committed to increase the effectiveness of the health program by increasing the insurance amount, Prime Minister Dahal said that this program can be developed as a program of national pride. He made it clear that a reasonable conclusion will be reached based on the necessary studies in view of the potential of the health insurance program. #nepal
