PM Dahal returns home after attending COP-28 in UAE



Kathmandu, Dec 3: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ returned Nepal after attending the UN climate change summit, COP-28, on Sunday evening.

PM Dahal was welcomed by Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Foreign Minister NP Saud, ministers, lawmakers and high level officials of the Embassy of UAE in Nepal at VVIP Lounge of TIA.

The global climate change event had kicked off on November 30. PM Dahal attended the high level segments on climate change on December 1 and 2. He also addressed the summit on December 2.

In the addresses, PM Dahal made aware the global community on adverse impacts of climate change on mountainous countries and stressed the need for urgent actions to stop the crime against nature and humanity.

He reiterated, “Our message is clear: mountains are tortured by rising temperature. Save them first!”

PM Dahal also delivered a brief statement at Nepal pavilion. He stated that climate change has been a major issue for Nepal as evidenced from its participations, pledges and commitment made at national, regional and global platforms to combat its adverse impacts.

Similarly, the PM attended the 52nd National Unity Day of UAE, and the ‘Sayed Sustainability Award’ ceremony. He also held high level meetings with chiefs of various States and governments.

In course of his stay in Dubai, PM Dahal had separate meetings with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Cuban President, among others.

PM Dahal visited Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi; discussed with Nepali community there; and addressed the Nepal-UAE trade summit, urging the investors to invest in Nepal.
