Kathmandu, April 13: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has urged the Nepal Investment Board (NIB) to focus on the investments on mega infrastructure projects.
Addressing a meeting of the IB today, the PM said we need a huge investment to graduate into the middle-income country by achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in time.
The PM was of the view that employment opportunities should be created within the country by bringing in foreign capital and technology while adding that more investments are required to increase production and productivity and promote exports through import substitution. The PM said that participation of national and international private sector is inevitable for us to meet the financial gaps due to limited resources for investment.
On the occasion, PM Dahal said that there is a huge gap between the FDI commitment and real investment amount and asked the authorities to think seriously to narrow down the gap.
PM Dahal also directed the ministries and agencies to work in an integrated manner to address the issues of land acquisition, concerns of the local people and rising costs of the project implementation.
Likewise, PM Dahal said that concerned agencies’ supports are needed for the development of mega infrastructure projects, preparing their framework, ensuring investment resources, implement those projects and carry out monitoring and facilitation.
