Kathmandu, Dec 14: Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has warned that he had no option but to remove the underperforming ministers from the posts.
PM Dahal made such warning while expressing dissatisfaction over some ministries for their failure to achieve targets shared in the last meeting on government programmes and budget.
Failure to perform as per promise and expectations leads to removal from posts. It was what PM Dahal said during a quarterly review meeting on government programmes and budget held at his office on Thursday.
On the occasion, he directed the ministers and secretaries to ensure effective result and public service in line with government policies and programmes.
He stressed people’s realization of change in government delivery.
Although the review period witnessed positive indicators on economic development, we must not be complacent on it. In stead of showing weaknesses, mutual efforts and collaboration helps earn consensus and development works for people, he suggested.
“The government under my leadership is nearing a year in office. But, we have not been able to deliver people as per expectation,” he reminded, urging the ministers and secretaries to make objective review of the annual programmes, plans and projects. He appealed to all to correct mistakes and forward activities that heartens people.
He asked all ministries to appear with clear action plans in the next review meeting.
In the meeting, Minister for Physical Infrastructures and Transport, Prakash Jwala; Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply, Ramesh Rijal; and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kirati, complained of inadequate budget, want of workforce, and absence of coordination and cooperation behind non-implementation of projects. They also expressed concern over the provisions of Public Procurement Act.
Secretary at Prime Minister’s Office, Ganesh Pande, had presented the four-monthly progress report in the meeting.
