KATHMANDU: A meeting between Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chairperson of main opposition party, CPN (UML), KP Sharma Oli has taken place at the latter’s residence in Balkot, Bhaktapur, on Saturday morning.
PM Deuba reached the residence of chair Oli at around 10:30 am, and their meeting lasted around one hour.
It is said that the one-on-one talk between the two leaders focused on issues including removal of parliament obstruction and approval of the US government assistance program MCC.
Prime Minister Deuba reached the Oli residence in Balkot after the UML remained absent in all-party meeting called earlier by PM Deuba to discuss removal of the parliament obstruction.
Earlier, NC leader Ram Chandra Poudel, also coordinator of the high level mechanism formed to help run the incumbent government, reached leader Oli residence in Balkot and held discussion with him.
The UML has been continuously obstructing the parliament session putting forth various demands.
A source close to Baluwatar informed that the two leaders also discussed about the future of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana, who is adamant to remain on the post despite continuous protest against him.
Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Deuba had invited Rana at his official residence, Baluwatar, and requested him to resign. But Rana was said to be adamant in his stand and replied ready to face constitutional challange.
