PM Oli leaves for Singapore, second time in a month for treatment

Kathmandu, Aug 22: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has left for Singapore on Thursday for health check-ups at Singapore-based National University Hospital.

Prime Minister Oli is accompanied by his spouse Radhika Shakya, chief political advisor Bishnu Rimal, personal doctor Dr Divya Singh Shah and personal secretary Rajesh Bajracharya, among others.

National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, Ishwor Pokharel, Minister for Home Affairs, Ram bahadur Thapa, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali and leaders of Nepal Communist Party including General-Secretary Bishnu Poudel, bade farewell to PM Oli at VVIP longue of Tribhuvan International Airport.

PM Oli had returned home from Singapore on August 12 after treatment at the same hospital. Prime Minister has again left for Singapore for regular health check at doctors’ advice.

DPM Pokharel designated as acting PM

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has designated the responsibility of acting Prime Minister to Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel.

President Bhandari, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, entrusted DPM Pokharel with the responsibility of acting PM to look after day-to-day administration of the country in absence of PM Oli, reads a press release issued today by the Office of the President.
