Pokhara, Feb 11: The fire that occurred at Saleways Department Stores of Lakeside in Pokhara this afternoon has been brought under control after two hours.
The fire was doused at around 6:45 this evening, two hours after it broke out from the ground floor of Saleways Department Stores, Police Inspector Hari Prasad Poudel said.
According to Police Inspector Poudel, some half a dozen shops witnessed damages from the fire. No human casualty was reported from the incident.
“The fire is completely under control now. Details of the damages would be availed only in the morning time tomorrow, as collection of details is difficult in the nighttime,” Poudel said.
The fire could have caused due to the power leakage, it is said.
Four fire engines from Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Pokhara Airport and Pokhara Metropolitan City, and water tanks from the private sector were mobilized to extinguish the fire.
A godown of the Saleways Department Stores is completed destroyed in the fire, while Himalayan Java Café, Nasa Trekking Equipment, Paddle Nepal, Tibetan Culture Shop, Masala Beat and other shops have suffered partial losses, police confirmed.
