PPL: Dhangadhi and Pokhara out of tournament



Kathmandu, Dec 24, 2019 : Dhangadhi Expert and Pokhara Paltan are out of the second edition of the Pokhara Premier League Cricket Championship that is going on in the touristic town of Pokhara in Kaski district.

Pokhara Paltan could secure only one win in five matches it played in the tournament and it was at the bottom of the score table. Although Dhangadhi managed to secure two victories, it was in the fourth position in the score table and hence had to exit from the tournament.

Chitwan Rhinos which tops the score table and Kathmandu Goldens which is in the third place are vying in the final match of the league series today.

Chitwan Rhinos is so far undefeated. It is in the first position with eight points. Its focus is all now on winning the final. Former national team skipper Paras Khadka is the captain of Chitwan Rhinos.

If Kathmandu Goldens win the match, Chitwan Rhinos’ chances of reaching the playoff will still be alive. If the Kathmandu Golden loses, then Chitwan Rhinos will have to wait for the results of the match between Biratnagar and Butwal.

The top team of the tournament will play Saturday for the title. The teams in the second and third positions will play the elimination match on Thursday to enter the final.

The winner of the PPL will bag cash prize of Rs 2.7 million, the first runner up team Rs 1 million. Likewise, players declared the Man of the Series, the Best Batsman and the Best Bowler will get TVS motorcycle. The player declared ‘The Most Valuable’ will get Rs 100,000 and the ‘Best Upcoming Player’ will receive Rs 50,000.

Biratnagar Titans, Pokhara Paltan, Butwal Blasters, Chitwan Rhinos, Kathmandu Golden Warriors and Dhangadhi Expert are competing in the tournament organized by Queens Event Management Pvt Ltd. The tournament will conclude on December 28.
