Biratnagar, Dec 1: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has reiterated that all leftist parties in the country should unite in the interest of safeguarding national independence and upholding the people’s dignity. He said Nepal has experienced both the strength of political unity and the consequences of division.

Addressing the Koshi Province–level “Party Unity Message Dissemination Assembly” in Biratnagar on Monday, the former Prime Minister remarked that the country is currently facing a crisis, calling on all Nepalis to become defenders of citizens’ right to self-determination and to stand against imperialism.

Prachanda noted that his party agreed to support President Ramchandra Paudel in forming an interim government to protect state institutions. He also acknowledged that the recent Gen-Z protests served as a reminder for political leaders to correct their shortcomings.

He stated that 16 communist parties have come together to form the Nepali Communist Party with the aim of addressing the demands raised during the Gen-Z protests, empowering citizens, curbing corruption, and ensuring good governance. He further stressed that the government must create an environment conducive to holding free and fair elections within the stipulated time-frame.

Joint Coordinator of the party and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said that leftist parties have united to safeguard the identity and sovereignty of Nepalis. He added that the unity aims to preserve the revolutionary character of communist movements and that the Nepali Communist Party remains committed to protecting Nepali civilization, culture, social justice, and proportional representation.

Also speaking at the assembly, party leader and former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal pledged to prioritize land reform, modernization of agriculture, employment generation through industrialization, and other development initiatives if the party secures a majority in the upcoming elections.

Leaders Narayankaji Shrestha, Dr. Bhim Rawal, Haribol Gajurel, Sarita Thapa, Gopal Kiraty, Rajendra Shrestha, and Rupesh Khatiwada also expressed their views on strengthening federalism, promoting economic development, achieving national prosperity, and ensuring unity among leftist political forces. #nepal #prachanda
