Prachanda calls Gyanendra Shah a ‘discarded element of history’

Kathmandu, Feb 22: The CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has taken a direct jab at former King Gyanendra Shah, stating that “discarded elements of history” are attempting to make a comeback.

Speaking at an event in Kathmandu on Saturday, Prachanda claimed that Nepal’s political situation is facing challenges, with increasing public dissatisfaction toward the present KP Oli government. He accused the former king of daydreaming about reinstating the monarchy by capitalizing on public frustration.

His remarks come at a time of rising political uncertainty in Nepal, with dissatisfaction toward the ruling coalition growing.

“The political situation is challenging. If you look at the media, you’ll see that the government’s performance is deteriorating day by day, and public dissatisfaction is growing. Various political forces are trying to manipulate this discontent for their own interests. Some elements, long discarded into the dustbin of history, are now fantasizing about making a comeback and spreading propaganda,” he said.

Prachanda also alleged that international organizations have directly labeled the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML coalition as corrupt and fraudulent. He warned that Nepal is at risk of being placed on the financial grey list due to its growing corruption issues.

“Nepal is now on the verge of landing on the grey list, and corruption is rampant. International agencies have openly stated that the government is steeped in corruption. They have even directly pointed fingers at Congress and UML, calling them fraudsters,” he asserted.

Prachanda declared that the Maoist Centre would no longer ally with reactionary and corrupt forces at the federal or provincial level. Instead, he emphasized the need for his party to stand on its own.

“The Maoist Centre will no longer form governments by allying with reactionaries and middlemen. We will stand on our own feet,” he stated. #NAN #nepal #prachanda #corruption #gyanendra
