KATHMANDU : Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has ruled out the possibility of the formation of socialist centre at the moment.

He however clarified that efforts were on to form a communist front in favour of changes for the upcoming elections.
“Discussions are underway to forge communist alliance for election. But, a decision is yet to be made,” he said while addressing the second full meeting of the central committee of the Press Centre Nepal close to his party on Friday.

For an electoral alliance, communist parties in the incumbent government including the Maoist Centre, the CPN (Unified Socialist) and the Janata Samajbadi Party had been in talks, it has been said.

But, he pledged to continue the existing alliance in the incumbent government until elections. “The coalition will continue until next elections and as per need. The tendency of upsetting agendas for change is still underway. The alliance is in need for this cause too.”

On the State Partnership Programme (SPP), the former Prime Minister claimed that the government rejected the programme under pressure from the Maoist Centre.

In another context, he accused the opposition parties of creating propaganda about former Finance Minister. “The probe committee has submitted the report. The report has proved former Finance Minister innocent,” he said, referring to former Finance Minister Janardan Sharma.
