Prachanda threatened that Nepal will become like Bangladesh or Sri Lanka: Gagan Thapa

Gagan Kumar Thapa

Kathmandu, Aug 29: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa has stated that CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as “Prachanda,” has threatened that Nepal could end up like Bangladesh or Sri Lanka.

During a House of Representatives meeting on Thursday, Thapa expressed his disagreement with Prachanda’s statement. He mentioned that during the Parliament meeting on the Bhadra 11, 2081 BS, Mr Prachanda, who dislike religious beliefs, may have made a comment that sounded like a curse.

Thapa further said, “I heard the former prime minister say that Nepal could become like Bangladesh or Sri Lanka. It is unacceptable for a former prime minister to suggest that Nepal could turn into Bangladesh or Sri Lanka.”

Thapa criticized the current political atmosphere, stating that leaders are focusing on creating excitement rather than addressing important issues. He emphasized the need for the opposition to play a vital role in holding the government accountable. Thapa urged against getting caught up in temporary gains and internal conflicts that could ultimately harm the country.
