Kathmandu, Jan 2: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center) and former Prime Minister, has urged the government to reclaim the land of Shera Durbar in Nuwakot under state ownership.
Speaking at the meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives on Thursday, Prachanda emphasized the importance of retrieving the Shera Durbar land, similar to the Lalita Niwas case in Kathmandu.
Prachanda expressed his party’s readiness to assist the government if it conducts a fair investigation into the Shera Durbar land case and takes action against those found guilty. He stressed that anyone involved in illegally transferring government-owned land into private ownership should be brought under the purview of the law.
He further stated, “During my tenure as Prime Minister, I reviewed several corruption-related files and made it clear that anyone, even if from my own party, found guilty of corruption must face legal scrutiny. Similarly, if Shera Durbar’s land is brought back under government ownership, as in the case of Lalita Niwas, I will not only extend my support but also express my gratitude to the government.”
Shera Durbar, located in Bidur Municipality-2, Nuwakot district, encompasses nearly 184 ropanis of land. Of this, 164 ropanis were allegedly misappropriated. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has already written to the government to reclaim the land and has also recommended action against those involved in transferring public property to private companies. #nepal #prachanda #corruption
