Kathmandu, May 2: President Ram Chandra Paudel has presented the Government’s annual policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83 (2025/26) at the joint session of the Federal Parliament. The joint session of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly was held at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwar, where President Paudel is currently delivering the policy and program address.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli handed over a copy of the address to President Paudel before the presentation. The President was welcomed by Speaker Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana and Deputy Chair of National Assembly, including General Secretary of the Secretariat Padya Prasad Pandey.
President Paudel received a ceremonial welcome with a military guard of honor at the entrance of the Parliament building, accompanied by a contingent of the Nepali Army. As the Supreme Commander of the Nepali Army, President Paudel was honored with a formal salute by a troop of the army.
The session was attended by the Vice President, former Prime Ministers, former Speakers, heads and officials of constitutional bodies, chiefs and representatives of diplomatic missions, representatives from the private sector, and others.
Today, the Parliament premises were decorated with national flags and banners. Guests were welcomed at the building’s premises with water fountains. The Secretariat had invited over 400 guests to the event, issuing special entry passes.
According to Article 95 of the Constitution of Nepal, the President is mandated to address the joint sitting of both Houses of the Federal Parliament. The Secretariat has already scheduled discussions and approval of the policy and program between Baisakh 22 and 28.
Furthermore, on Baisakh 30, discussions on the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill will begin. As per the Constitution, the Finance Minister must present the government’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year on Jestha 15 at the joint meeting of the Federal Parliament. #nepal
