Kathmandu: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has summoned the Federal Parliament session on January 9, 2023.
The President summoned the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) and National Assembly on January 9 at the recommendation of the Council of Ministers as per the Constitution of Nepal.
The session of both Houses has been called at 1:00 pm in the International Convention Center, New Baneshwor.
Likewise, the Federal Parliament Secretariat has issued a notice on Tuesday requesting to all the Members of Parliaments for their presence at the parliament meeting.
The new session of the House of Representatives will cast a vote of confidence for the new government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
CPN Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda has become Prime Minister with the support from CPN UML, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), and other fringe parties. The UML led coalition has written to the President and claimed that they have 169 MPs with them.
However, two parties have already showed displeasure over joining the current government. The RPP and Nagarik Unmukti Party have signed on the paper to supporting the Prachanda led government. It’s not clear about their displeasure over joining the government.
The NUP has repeatedly demanding to release their party chairman Resham Chaudhary who is serving jail terms over the alleged involvement in Tikapur masacre.
Reports say that the Prachanda led government will face huge task on delivering the government services to the people as it has a thin line of existence. The power sharing modality remains still unclear and Prachanda may face several intra-struggle incidents within the cabinet.
Likewise, the coalition partners have to decide on important key posts, including President, Vice President, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Provincial Chief Ministers, Province Chiefs and others.
It is said that CPN UML will keep the post of President and Speaker while other posts will be given to other parties.
