Prime Minister bid farewell to the team participating in 19th Asian Games



Kathmandu, Sept 14: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has bid farewell to the Nepalese team that will participate in the 19th Asian Games today, wishing them success.

In the farewell program held at the Prime Minister’s office in Baluwatar, he said that the Nepalese team will perform well in the tournament. Prime Minister Dahal said that the prize money for the players that was announced earlier was delayed due to technical reasons and mentioned that the announced prize money will be released from the cabinet meeting tomorrow.

Prime Minister Dahal is also scheduled to visit China before the opening of the Asian Games after visiting USA.  The 19th Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou, China from Ashoj 6 to 21.

In this year’s Asian Games, 253 Nepali athletes will compete in 29 games. In which 127 female and 126 male players are participating.

Four players in basketball, four in archery, eight in athletics, eight in badminton, 13 in boxing, one in breakin, one in canoe, 15 in cricket, two in cycling and 23 in e-sports will participate from Nepal.

Similarly, six in fencing, 22 in football, six in golf, 16 in handball, eight in judo, 12 in kabaddi, eight in karate, 12 in rugby, two in shooting, six in squash, four in swimming, six in table tennis, 11 in taekwondo, six in tennis, four in triathlon and 24 in volleyball are also taking part in the event.

Five players will participate in weightlifting, four in wrestling and 12 in Wushu. Only players from 19 different sports participated in the farewell program held today. The players of the rest of the game are in closed training outside the valley and outside the country.
